Thanks, and see you next year!

We'd like to say a big thanks to those who made Sheffield Print Fair 2014 a great success. It was very busy, and we had our minds blown by all the amazing work on show.

Thanks especially to Dust for designing the posters/flyers, St Mary's for hosting the event, Virginia Lowes for being our official photographer, the print demonstrators, and all the great artist/printmakers too!

If you use Facebook you can see a collection of great photographs from the event here:

Sheffield Print Fair 2014 - call for artists!

Yes, it is that time again! We are proud to be launching 'Sheffield Print Fair 2014', which will take place on Saturday 15th November 2014, at St Mary's Church & Community Centre, Bramall Lane, Sheffield.

The event will run from 10am until 4pm, and will feature 35 printmaker stalls as well as print demonstrations throughout the day. Last November (and indeed at the Museums Sheffield event) we were bowled over with the interest from applicants and people on the day, so we are very much looking forward to this one!

We are now looking for applicants for the event, printmakers from Sheffield and beyond; woodcut, mezzotint, linocut, screen-print, wood-engravings, digital prints, monoprints and more! Please note - We can't accept prints that are simply reproductions/scans of artworks created in other media.

The application deadline is 14th September 2014, and we will inform all applicants of the result by 30th September 2014.

Stalls are £55 each (a 6ftx2ft table), or £27.50 for a half-table.

Sheffield Design Week: 5-Day Print Challenge

Hi people

On Monday 23rd June 2014 we are launching the 5-Day Print Challenge. Earlier in the year, we were asked by Sheffield Design Week to come up with an something as part of the event.

We thought it might be fun to ask four printmakers who have taken part in our fairs to create a band-new piece of work in five days from a 'mystery' brief given to them! Then we thought it might be even more fun to get Sheffield Hallam Uni involved and get them to choose four current graphics/illustration students. The students will visit the professional artist / printmakers workshops / studios and get a good insight into how they work.

All work must be handed in at 10am on Friday 27th June.

So, the challenge is set.....exciting stuff!

The final prints will be displayed in a special Sheffield Design Week container at Sheffield Train Station on Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th June 2014.

We'll report back with the results on the blog and our facebook page (www.facebook.com/sheffieldprintfair).

First post!

Hello there!

We've just created this blog to keep you up-to-date with activities with Sheffield Print Fair.

If you weren't aware, we organise print fairs in the hilly city. Our first one was in November 2013, and it seemed to be a real success, with great support from artists, the general public, Sheffield Hallam University, St Mary's, design agency Dust to name but a few...so we are organising more...

Sheffield Print Fair @ The Millennium Galleries - Sat 10th May 2014
Our first event of the year is a collaboration with Museums Sheffield. From January until June 2014 the galleries are hosting a new exhibition of artists/printmakers who live or work in Sheffield, and they asked us if we'd like to curate a print fair there on Saturday 10th May 2014. We said yes (of course!), and applications are now open.

Any artist using printmaking techniques can apply, and the deadline to do so is 28th March 2014. The cost is £45 for a 6ft table, with two chairs

You can download a PDF of the application pack here.

You can download a Word doc of the application pack here.

All applications should be emailed to events@museums-sheffield.org.uk, and any questions directed to them in the first instance. Please make sure you read the 'Information Sheet' at the end of the form before filling it in, and make sure you attach images of your work with your application.

Museums Sheffield also have a page with info about applying for the May print fair - www.museums-sheffield.org.uk/whats-on/events/2014/5/sheffield-print-fair

(Oh, a future date for your diaries...we are also arranging 'Sheffield Print Fair 2014', our annual event, at St Mary's Church & Community Centre on Saturday 15th November 2014.)
